Question by Elizabeth: Can you host a party in a Vegas hotel suite?
I’ve never invited a bunch of non-hotel guests to a hotel room and don’t know if it’s kosher or not. This wouldn’t be a drunken bash – more like a Continental breakfast with pastries and champagne and coffee for a couple of hours.
Mainly I don’t want to be charged money for having a gathering in my room. If I have to pay extra for something like this then I will likely consider doing something else.

I’m throwing a Vegas themed birthday party this weekend and am planning on having different tables set up with Blackjack, Roulette, etc. so guests can go from table to table and play the different games, just like in a casino. I have a bunch of poker chips to get my guests started, but I’m not sure what kind of rules should go along with the chips…like what to do when someone runs out of them, etc. Any ideas?

there are a couple of ways to go:
Every one gets the same chips at the start, and the one with the most at the end of the night ‘wins’ and gets a prize. In that case, you cannot hand out extra’s.
Every one gets chips at the start, and can share at any time amongst them selves. Again, don’t hand extra’s out, but if everyone if good friends, they will sort it out themselves.
Everyone gets chips at the start, but hold some back. If people run out during the night, they can come to the ‘bank’ for some more. In this scenario, you can keep topping up the bank from huse winnings, so you shouls always have a supply of chips to dole out. This is the least gambling way of doing it, and so long as everyone is aware that the bank is giving out chips and everyone has a chance to stock up if they run out it should be cool.
You know you friends, and so you know which scenario is most likely to be ‘fun’ to your mates. If you really can’t decide, either talk to a few close friends that will be coming or have a secret ballot at the very begining of the night, and the one that gets the most votes is they way to play it. Just make sure you are consistant, and don’t change the rules half way through the night.

We have a group of 8 guys, looking to get a suite at a nice Vegas hotel for three nights starting on a Wednesday. We are currently looking at a two bedroom suite at the Palms with balconies, four 42″ TVs, two king beds, two sleeper sofas, kitchen, fireplace, which comes to about 235 a piece and can fit us all. This is about our limit. Is there comparable rooms at lower prices or slightly lesser rooms for a bit less?

Although I am not a huge fan of the hotel, I went to a bach party at MGM once and the suite was awesome. They have a wide variety to choose from, and the rates are not bad considering the amount space.
If memory serves me, it was a 2 bedroom suite with about 2000 square feet of space. It was huge and really nice. I wanna say it was about 1200$ a night, but I could be wrong.
