How much to tip for a complimentary drink while playing video poker in Las Vegas?
Question by : How much to tip for a complimentary drink while playing video poker in Las Vegas?
Let’s say I’m on the Strip playing a 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker machine which has an expected return of approximately 99.5% with perfect play at the rate of about 500 hands per hour, and I bet $ 1.25 per hand. The waitress (or whatever she is called) comes up to me and ask me if I would like a drink. I tell her I want a shot of Jack Daniels. When she brings my drink back, how much should I tip her ?

Are you winning or losing. Just kidding. A two dollar tip is ok for a regular single drink. If the waitress is attentive and you are making some money bump it up to 5 or 10 bucks. Thats not per drink but per session unless you are really putting down a lot of drinks. Then bump it up another 10. Just an opinion. If you are losing she will understand a smaller tip.

Is there a worldwide conspiracy to get everybody hooked on playing poker sponsored by vegas and macau?
Question by cayK: Is there a worldwide conspiracy to get everybody hooked on playing poker sponsored by vegas and macau?
every country i visit there is more than six hours of poker on tv on multiple channels, usually between 23:00 and the morning. Is this a trick to get everybody to play poker online and in the casinos? In every major city there are poker courses and its presented as a sport instead of gambling. What sport is played sitting on a chair for unlimited time and where you can loose all you have and more?

If you have to ask this question then I don’t think that playing poker professionally is for you just yet.
But 20 buy-ins should be fine.

What kinds of free drinks can I order while playing video poker in Vegas?
Question by AnswerLady: What kinds of free drinks can I order while playing video poker in Vegas?
For example, can I order frozen drinks, like margueritas and daquiries, or just simple drinks, like a rum and coke? How “fancy” can my request be (like a pomegranite marguerita)? I’ll be playing at a relativley inexpensive video poker machine (probably a quarter machine), but I’m certainly willing to tip a couple of bucks and I’m not picky about the quality of the liquor (house level is fine). I’ve never done this before and I don’t want to be asking for anything unreasonable or look stupid!

you can order just about anything your heart desires. but remember you’ll be limited by whatever the bar stocks. in the fancier hotels you may be able to order more complicated drinks (specialty liquors) as they simply stock more variety at the bar. but smaller hotels may have limited selection. it’s not really an issue of whether or not they’ll make it for you. it’s more ‘do they carry it or not’.
the worse thing your server can say is they don’t carry drink x. be flexible and tip generously. that way your server will be more inclined to come back and/or hurry with your drink. just remember you’re not her only customer and she usually has a lot of ground to cover.
also, in my experience slot players get the least amount of service. the servers have much more territory to cover when they’re assigned to slots than the poker or other gaming tables. so don’t be surprised if she takes awhile. also the bar may be very far from where you may be sitting. be friendly and ask questions. most servers will return in kind. i’ve come across very few unfriendly servers in my time here.
