When Elvis Presley’s late-1960s comeback is discussed, talk generally centers on two events–his 1968 NBC-TV special and the recordings made in Memphis at American Studios shortly thereafter. There was actually a third key event–Presley’s first Las Vegas engagement in 13 years (he flopped the first time), which kicked off at the brand-new International Hotel on July 31, 1969. The event is downplayed now since Vegas has become so synonymous with the King’s decline–but this … More >>

  • Yes .. these were his best performance(s), marred only by the engineers mix which is just awful. Hopefully, one day we will get more tracks from 1969, properly mixed which would make this an all time best.

  • This was the first Elvis CD I bought. I’d heard very little of him back then. He comes on the stage singing “Blue Suede Shoes,” one of his heaviest rockers, “Hound Dog,” which, when you compare to other versions, doesn’t sound very good on this album. “All Shook Up” certainly is one of the best Elvis songs, and completely fits the mood of this concert. Another song is “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” How could I be lonesome when I have Elvis to rock with 24-7?

rock and roll’s premier artist shows the world, that he what it takes to rock the world., woth this 1969 album of out takes.
i don’t think the rock a billy boys of the late 50′s could have put on a dynamic show like this,.
i was 10 yrs old when this album came out, and play it often.., also what would have been cool, is to hear this album in the quadraphonic formatt !

  • I’ve been listening to this live album of the king since I knew myself. After all those years, it’s still my favourite cd of all times. Supernatural performance from Elvis and the whole band. Look forward for the FTD double cd version of this album in this month. The King lives on.

    Highly Recommended!

  • This is elvis at his all time height,I myself saw elvis a number of times but always wished i saw the 69 vegas performences.Elvis never before or since sounded or performed better. The recordings from the same time period were also of Elvis” best.Unfortunatly, elvis would never perform or record anywhere near as good as he did in 1969,everyone was hopeing he would trash the glitz and schmultz and go back to the way he was here, but we all know the end of the story.
