  • I’ve not heard this volume of Baselga’s Albeniz recordings. I own volume one, and it is quite fine. I agree with the previous review, in that regard. But, I’m writing this to set the record straight. It was Debussy who influenced Albeniz. Not vice versa. Albeniz himself said he could not have written his masterpiece, “Iberia” until he had discovered the tonal language of Debussy. But, at least the reviewer recognized the cross-influence. The influence of the French on the music of Spain, particularly Albeniz and Falla, is very important.

From a BIG fan of Debussy AND Albeniz!

  • This CD of Miguel Baselga may be is the most amazing recording of Albeniz I have ever heard. His sound is right in the middle of the perfection and the works are simply wonderful. What can somebody says about “Iberia”?.I only can be waiting the 3rd volume of this serie. Albeniz, this great composer of the XXth century whose works anticipate Debussy’s revolution, didn’t need to be enhanced and Baselga does it to him and himself too.
